Mary Sue Rogers, 83, of Richmond, died Friday, July 3, 2020, at Riverbend Heights Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lexington.

Mary Sue was born on Sept. 29, 1936, in Richmond, the daughter of Lester and Helen (Spencer) Reeder. She was united in marriage to Billy Rogers of Richmond on Jan. 31, 1960. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2020.

Mary Sue leaves behind a son, Lester (Kiley) Rogers of Richmond; two daughters, Cathy (Daniel) Copeland of Lakeland, Florida, and Karen Rogers of Richmond; and eight grandchildren, Lance Rogers, Kristen Rogers, Hendrix Frost, Maverick Pierson, Stephen Copeland, Jonathon (Gavena) Copeland, Jennifer (Kevin) Darby and Timothy Copeland.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Emily Black.

Mary Sue was reared and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Richmond High School. She worked at the McCleary Clinic before she was married. Mary Sue was a housewife and homemaker. She also worked beside her husband at the Richmond First Baptist Church, where he was the custodian for many years. Mary Sue enjoyed making scrapbooks for her family and collecting antiques. She dearly loved her grandchildren; they could get by with more than her children ever could. She was a lifetime member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. Mary Sue and Billy enjoyed 60 years of marriage together.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson’s Association. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services occurred Thursday July 9, 2020, at Richmond First Baptist Church. Visitation took place at 10 a.m., with services following at 11 a.m. Burial occurred in Woodland Cemetery, Richmond. Ceremonies entrusted to Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond.
