Marcus Forson

Marcus Lee Forson, 42, of Richmond passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at his home. Marcus was born on May 8, 1980, in Richmond, the son of Lindell L. and Bonnie J. (Barrett) Forson. Survivors include: his son, Lane Forson of Richmond; two daughters, Brooklynn Sturgeon of Carrollton and Layla Simmons of Warrensburg; brother, Michael Forson of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and two sisters, Monica (William) Randle of Greenwood and Michelle (Cecil) Connor of Lawson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Maddox Lee Forson.

Marcus was reared and educated in the area of his birth and graduated with the class of 1999 from Richmond High School. He excelled at football and wrestling during his high school years.

Marcus worked in the concrete construction industry. He was a busybody, whether working on something or at his job.

Marcus enjoyed helping others, his kids and their sporting activities, driving go-karts and four-wheelers or anything to do with the outdoors.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Marcus Lee Forson Memorial Fund or the Humane Society of Ray County. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 11, at the Richmond First Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at noon, with services to follow at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Bethel Cemetery, south of Polo.
