Mamie “Katie” Linebarger, 92, of Richmond passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Katie was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Lebanon, the daughter of Joseph W. and Tena E. (Bacon) Houston. She was united in marriage to Kenneth O. Linebarger of Fairview on Feb. 18, 1951. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1976.

Survivors include: four daughters, Brenda Wade of Richmond, Leslie Bowman of Blue Springs, Nancy (Mike) Shea of Harrisonville and Deborah (Jeff) Talley of Waco, Texas; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her great-great-granddaughter; a brother, John Houston of Higginsville; and a sister, Judy Wrisinger of Richmond.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Jim Houston, Jerry Houston and Tom Houston; and sister, Joyce Grigsby.

Katie was reared and educated in Higginsville and graduated from Lafayette County High School. She was a military wife for 20 years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henrietta and a former member of the Lions Club. Katie was active in her church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and working in the nursery.

She was a seamstress. She liked to read, listen to music, singing, gardening, doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, Katie loved her family and was family-oriented. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Tunnel to Towers. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial services were held Monday, Nov. 27, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at noon, followed by services at 1 p.m. Inurnment followed in the Higginsville City Cemetery.
