Madeline Weathington, 98, of Richmond, died Monday, April 27, 2020, at Oak Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care, Richmond.

Madeline was born on July 6, 1921, in Ray County, the daughter of Charles C. and Charlene (Whitmer) Rodgers Sr. She was united in marriage to George E. Weathington of Ray County on Sept. 9, 1938. He preceded her in death in March of 1995.

Madeline leaves behind two daughters, Beverly (Harold) Wilson of Rayville and Mary (Lester) Veach of Richmond; four grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Veach, Debbie (Randy) Green, Darin (Stacy) Veach and Rodney (Susan) Wilson; two stepgrandchildren, John and Ben Veach; 10 great-greatgrandchildren; six greatgreat-step-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank T. Rodgers of Pleasant Valley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charles C. Rodgers Jr.; two sisters, Irma Fay Andreas and her twin sister, Adeline Bryant; and greatgrandson, Kirk Veach.

Madeline was reared and educated in the area of her birth. She loved going to the Eagleton Center to play cards and loved to go visiting. Madeline was a housewife and homemaker; she also worked, in her younger years, at Lake City Arsenal, the Plastic Factory in Excelsior Springs and at the Dress Factory in Richmond. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to either the Rayville Christian Union Church or the Ray County Veterans for medical equipment. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
