MADDOX LEE FORSON

Maddox Lee Forson, 12, of Richmond passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at his home.

Maddox was born on Jan. 31, 2011, in Liberty, the son of Marcus Lee Forson and Karissa Marie Sorensen.

Survivors include: his mother, Karissa Sorensen of Richmond; brother, Lane Mykel Forson of Richmond; two sisters, Brooklyn Sturgeon of Carrollton and Layla Simmons of Warrensburg; and maternal grandparents, Lisa Sorensen and Ken Sorensen, both of Richmond. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father and his paternal grandparents.

Maddox was a sixth-grader at Richmond Middle School who enjoyed football and wrestling. He was always smiling. He liked to joke around, was everybody’s friend and enjoyed helping others.

Maddox loved video games, loved all animals and was good with other children, even with babies. He was a gentle giant who loved pizza and pancakes.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Maddox Lee Forson Memorial Fund or the Humane Society of Ray County. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 11, at the Richmond First Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at noon, with services to follow at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be at a later date in Bethel Cemetery, south of Polo.
