The Richmond News, August 1, 2025
Lloyd Judd Jr.
Lloyd Judd Jr., known by many as “LJ” or “Pap,” passed away peacefully July 24, 2025, at age 69, surrounded by his family. He was born in Lexington, the son of Lloyd Judd Sr. and Mary E (Helm) Judd. Lloyd was a 1974 graduate of Lexington High School. He started his construction career as a heavy equipment operator in Richmond, working for Bersano Construction Co. From there, he went to work for Havens Construction in Liberty, retiring in 2020 after 30 years of dedication to the company.
He enjoyed woodworking, boating, camping and fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. In August of 1997, Lloyd’s world changed with just one kiss on the swinging bridge in Warsaw. On Jan. 5, 2002, Lloyd married his lifelong friend, Jamie (Bryan) Judd. With that union, he inherited two daughters that he loved as his own.
Lloyd was a friend to everyone he met. He had a kind, giving heart, a smile on his face and a big hug to give. He loved being involved in the lives of his daughters, sons-in-law and granddaughters. He was always there, cheering them on at sporting events and school activities, fixing/building anything you can imagine or just spending time with them. He became affectionately known by many from north to south of Missouri Highway 13 as “Pap.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Judd Sr. Survivors include Jamie, his wife, of the home; daughters, Tyna Morrison (Matt), and granddaughters Taylor, Tylee and Tenley, of Kidder, and Amie Hicks (Ryan), and granddaughter Hollis Mae, with one on the way, of Republic; and his mother, Mary Judd of Keaau, Hawaii.
His brother, Joey Judd (Chris), and niece (Hannah) of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; sister, Brenda Ho (Clyde), and nieces Shanna and Kanoe, of Keaau also survive.
With Lloyd’s love of God, children and animals, memorial contributions can be made to either Zoe’s Home, 1267 E. Missouri Highway 7, Clinton, MO 64735; or the Clinton Animal Shelter, 1307 N. Washington St., Clinton, MO 64735.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be held at a later date. Please share your memories of Lloyd with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
