John Homer Page, 96, of Lexington passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. John was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Henrietta, the son of John Christian and Mattie (Bayne) Page. He was united in marriage to Ann Walton of Lexington on June 23, 1951. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his son, Steve (Debbie) Page of Excelsior Springs; and daughter, Sherry (Tim) Saunders of Lexington. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Jeremy (Brandi) Fahrmeier, Elizabeth (Bill) Seek, Matt (Faythe) Page, Rebecca Andrew, Adrienne (Jake) Harrison and Clayton (Amber) Saunders; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Junior Page and his brother’s wife Lorene; and nephew, Andy Page.
John was raised and educated in Henrietta, where he graduated from Henrietta High School. During his school years, he proudly played basketball as a Henrietta Wildcat, a time he remembered fondly.
After high school, John began a long and dedicated career with General Motors, where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in the mid-1970s. He was a proud and active member of UAW Local No. 31, always valuing the solidarity and purpose that came with union membership.
John was known for his unwavering work ethic. He often said that working was his hobby.
In addition to his years at General Motors, he contributed to the community as a homebuilder. Together with his brother, he helped build River Bend Heights Nursing Home in Lexington, along with numerous homes throughout the area.
A man of loyalty and quiet strength, John was deeply devoted to his family and friends. His hard work, kindness and steadfast presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ; 1312 Franklin Ave.; Lexington, MO 64067, to be used for transportation for cancer patients for their care and treatment.
Private family services and burial were scheduled for Thursday, May 15, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial was to be in Machpelah Cemetery in Lexington.
