Janet Eileen Wilson passed away peacefully Thursday, March 5, 2020 surrounded by her family and friends at Northcare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri.

Janet was born on April 7, 1943, in Richmond Missouri to Wilma and Peyton Junior Carter. She attended grade school and high school in Richmond, Missouri and graduated in 1961. After graduating high school, she attended Kansas City Business School. 

After moving to Kansas City, Missouri, she began working at the United Auto Workers Sub-Regional Union Hall, retiring after 30 years of employment. She also owned and operated many small businesses, bought and sold Real Estate and enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her friends including Martha and Abe, Sandy, Judy, Bunny and Mia. She loved playing cards and never passed a sale she didn’t want to “stop and see”. 

Janet is survived by her mother Wilma Carter, of Richmond; daughter Heather Kirkpatrick and wife Andi Milton of Kansas City; son Sean Kirkpatrick and partner Jayna Urness of Kansas City; step daughters Jacque Zahabi, Lisa Zahabi and Elizabeth Zahabi of Kansas City; sister Pat and husband Duwayne Macey and children of Richmond; sister Karen and husband Kim Branson of Richmond; brother David Carter and children of Richmond; sister-in-law Irene Carter of Richmond; Grandchildren Shane Kirkpatrick, Marissa Kirkpatrick, Cora Cooper, Creighton Cooper, Liam Haley, Jacob Haley, Keegan Haley, Dana Gresham, Noelle Kirkpatrick, Jack Urness; and great grandchildren Hadleigh Kirkpatrick-Mullinax, Cael Kennaley, and Adelaide Kirkpatrick.

She is proceeded in death by Father Peyton Junior Carter and brother Ronnie Carter both of Richmond. 

Funeral services will be held at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Richmond at 9502 Leathers Road, Richmond, Missouri. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday March 10, 2020. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Richmond. Janet will be laid to rest at Sunny Slope Cemetery in Richmond.
