J. Richard Hulse, age 90, from Nixa went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 16, 2023. Richard was born on May 31, 1932, to James Hulse and Bertha (Owen) Hulse in Des Moines, Iowa. Richard attended college, studying to be a music educator, until he was drafted in 1952 into the U.S. Army. He served two years and was honorably discharged in 1954. He received a Korean Service Medal, a Bronze Service Star, a U.N. Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, an ROK Presidential Unit Citation, two Over Seas Bars and a Good Conduct Medal.

Richard worked as an office manager at Cains Coffee for 21 years and was a talented musician that played at jamborees. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor who always could tell a joke and make you laugh. He was an RC model airplane enthusiast and loved his Lord. He loved his family and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 12 years, Jo Hulse; children, Lea Hulse and husband Ernst (Canada), James Hulse and wife Rebeca (Ohio), and Jamie Dry and husband Terry (Springfield); and stepchildren, Ronald Wiggins (Highlandville), Deborah Fitch (Nixa), Pamela Richardson and husband Rich (Kansas), Bryan Wiggins and wife Nancy (New Mexico), and Jerry Wiggins and wife Lisa (Ozark), and Terry Wiggins and wife Kay (Georgia). Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bertha Hulse; daughter, Lauri; and his first wife, Shirley Hulse.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Fair Haven Children’s Home A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, at Union Hill Church of Christ in Nixa.
