Gladys “Luanne” (Wells) Norris, 93, of Leavenworth, Kan., passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Medical Lodges of Leavenworth.

Luanne was born on Sept. 7, 1929, in Asherville, the daughter of Robert and Josephine (Buchanan) Lynch.

She was united in marriage to Virgil Norris of Richmond on March 13, 1955. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2000.

Survivors include her daughter, Rebekah A. O’Dell of Lexington; friends, Fred Kelly and Deloris Creason; and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Ross H. Norris; two brothers, Thomas Lynch and Charles Lynch; and two sisters, Lois Smith and Grace Smith.

Luanne was reared and educated across Kansas and Missouri. She was a housewife and homemaker.

Luanne was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Fleming Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Fleming Baptist Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services were held on Thursday, June 29, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m., followed by services at 3. Burial was in Richmond Memory Gardens.
