Floyd Edward Vermillion, 85, of Orrick, died Monday, Sept.7, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Floyd was born on Aug. 19, 1935, in Manila, Arkansas, the son of Floyd W. and Mary E. (Hollyfield) Vermillion. He was united in marriage to Shirley May Peterson of California on July 10, 1956. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2013.

Survivors include a son, James E. (Deana) Vermillion of Garden City; three daughters, Julie M. Vanderlinden of Raytown, Karen (Larry) Runions of Orrick and Deborah K. (Tim) Forristal of Raytown; 11 grandchildren, Russell Vanderlinden, Kelly Runions, Mikaela Lorino, Amanda Harris, Lisa Peterson, Timothy Guertin, Markae Guertin, Amy Guertin, Seth Vermillion, Tallen Vermillion and Emily Vermillion;16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Vermillion of Independence; and three sisters, Mary E. Brown of Rayville, Wanda Fowler of Raytown and Linda Burton of Lancaster, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Gerald Vermillion.

Floyd worked as a forklift operator for Roadway Trucking Co. of Kansas City, Kansas. Floyd was a wellknown musician, both locally and nationally. He was an excellent musician, especially on the guitar. He was selftaught. Locally, he was a regular at Leland Jones Country Pickins, near Rayville, and at the Rich Hill Opry. He also played at the Grand Old Opry in Nashville. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Inurnment will be held at a later date by the family.
