Emma Jean Hyatt, 87 of Richmond, died Friday, May 15, 2020, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

Emma was born on Sept. 19, 1932, in Richmond, the daughter of Avillia B. “A.V.” and Mary May (Martin) Holloway. She was united in marriage to Rodney E.F. Hyatt Sr. of Collins, Missouri, on Jan. 11, 1951; he preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2013.

Survivors include one son, Rodney E.F. Hyatt Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Richmond; four grandchildren, Robert Eugene Hyatt, Rodney Hyatt III and his wife, Kathie, Virginia O’Dell and her husband, John, and Samantha Danielson and her husband, Dylan; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, David Cheatham; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Donna Jean Hyatt; brother, Paul Donald Holloway; and sister, Martha Dean Snelling.

Emma was reared and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Richmond High School in the class of 1951. She was a housewife and homemaker. She had also worked outside of the home after raising her family. Emma loved the country life, watching birds and taking walks around the farm. She enjoyed gospel music and country music, if it was the older country music. She loved to go bowling, and watching baseball and football.

Visitation with graveside services took place Wednesday, May 20, 2020, with the visitation beginning at 1 p.m., at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Graveside services followed the visitation at 2 p.m. in Richmond Memory Gardens.
