Ellen Yvonne Williams, 67, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on July 27, 2022, after a short illness.

Ellen Williams

Ellen was born on Oct. 17, 1954, to Henry Owen Barger and Margaret Lucille (Clemmons) Barger in Richmond. Ellen attended Richmond High School. After marrying, she continued her education in nursing with her CNA, then LPN certification, and lastly, achieving her dream of becoming a registered nurse.

Ellen had a love for emergency medicine, where she spent the majority of her career. She worked in many of the emergency rooms in Kansas City before becoming a traveling nurse. With this, she was able to combine her love of nursing with her love of traveling. She spent many years as a travel nurse in locations around the country before settling in San Antonio, Texas – her true love.

Ellen loved the Raiders, traveling, taking photos of her many adventures; good food; cooking; Maine Coon cats; and spending time with those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Barger; and siblings, Linda Barger, Donald Barger and Jim Barger.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Williams) Maddux; son-in-law, Jason Maddux; and grandson, Nicholas Maddux, all of Kansas City. Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Francis Barger; and nephews, Ed and Eric Barger.

Per her wishes, Ellen was cremated and her ashes will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico. A celebration of life will be held for immediate family and close friends as we near the one-year anniversary of her passing.

The family suggests donations be made to KC Pet Project, https://kcpetproject.org/.
