Ed was born and raised in the area of his birth. Beginning in 1961, he made his home in Richmond.
Over the years, Ed delivered milk for Page Milk and later worked as a Coca-Cola deliveryman. He owned and operated Corle APCO and Corle’s Mini Storage. He eventually retired as a line supervisor from Ford Motor Co.
A man who found joy in hard work and the outdoors, Ed was an avid gardener. He took special pride in his truck gardens, growing hundreds of tomato plants – often more than 350 on his own – along with strawberries, green beans and other produce, which he gladly shared with friends, neighbors and the community. He also had a deep love for animals, especially sheepdogs, and cherished the companionship of his own.
Ed was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
His strong faith guided his life. He was of the Baptist faith, active in the churches he attended and served faithfully as a deacon. He also was a dedicated member of the God Squad, finding purpose in service and fellowship.
