Donnie Sherwood

Donnie “Don” Sherwood, 72, of Liberty passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Liberty. Don was born on March 2, 1951, in Kirksville, the son of Ernest and Juanita (Pierson) Sherwood. Survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Ryan) Parker of Edwardsville, Kan.; son, Darren (Becky) Sherwood of Richmond; grandchildren, Gabriel Parker (Kassandra Torres), Makayla Parker, Cheyenne (Payton) Leonard, Abigail (Joseph) Schaeffer and Hadassah Sherwood; and sister, Judy Corman of Richmond.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Juanita (Pierson) Sherwood.

Don received his GED at Smith-Cotton in Sedalia. Don was a minister for years at various churches in Missouri.

Don started a carpentry business, Mid America Custom Design Inc., in Independence and was involved with it until January 2002.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gathering KC Church, 11647 Kaw Drive, Bonner Springs, KS 66111; or Messenger Chapel, 601 S. Thornton St., Richmond, MO 64085. Memorials can always be dropped off, or mailed in care of the family, to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 East Main-P. O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Private family services to be held at a later date. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
