Dennis Elton Peterson, 79, of rural Rayville passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at his residence. Dennis was born Nov. 19, 1945, in Fresno, Calif., the son of Elton and Irene (Siebert) Peterson. He was united in marriage to Judy Bearce of Knob Noster on Dec. 24, 1997. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include one son, Dennis E. Peterson Jr. of Kerman, Calif.; and one brother, Robert Peterson, and his wife Carol, also of Kerman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandra Peterson Dennis was raised in California, where he grew up working alongside his family on their farm. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Coming from a long line of patriots, Dennis honored his family’s legacy of military service with great pride.

After completing his service, Dennis returned to the area of his birth to welcome the birth of his son. He then attended trade school and became a lineman, a career that took him across the globe, helping to build and maintain power grids, including projects in Alaska and Kenya.

He was a proud and dedicated member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Upon retirement, Dennis made his home in the Rayville area, where he lived for the past 25 years. He enjoyed the peacefulness of country life, spending his time fishing, tending to his ranch and raising his hobby cattle. His love for the land and simple pleasures reflected his hardworking spirit and grounded nature.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the donors’ choice in memory of Dennis. They can be dropped off or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Cremation, with no services scheduled at this time. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
