Deana Wright

Deana Rae Wright, 39, of Richmond went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Deana was born on Feb. 22, 1983, in Richmond, the daughter of Jeff L. and Peggy L. (Summers) Powell. She was united in marriage to Justin Wright of Norborne in April of 2019. They later divorced. Survivors include her children: son, Kayden Wright; daughter, Lilleigh Wright; and bonus daughter, Alaina Hahn, all of the home. Other survivors include her fiancé, Alex Hahn of Turney; parents, Jeff and Peggy Powell of Richmond; brother, Brian (Brandi) Powell of Rayville; sister, Tara (Duane) O’Dell of Hale; nieces and nephews, Dylan Powell, Emmalee O’Dell, Alli Powell, Tori O’Dell, Cobi Powell and Cale O’Dell; and several aunts and uncles.

Deana was reared and educated in Richmond and graduated with the class of 2001. After high school, she attended Maple Woods Community College. She was not afraid of hard work. She was a hard worker and had her first job at age 14. Over the years, she worked at the Super 8 Hotel in Richmond, Casey’s, as a waitress at several local restaurants, Henkel, Remington in Lexington, Labor Max in Kearney, Spartan Logistics in Kansas City and at a daycare in Kansas City.

Deana was of the Christian faith. She loved being a mother and aunt, and truly enjoyed her children, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed music, going to concerts, traveling, spending time with her family and going to Starbucks.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Deana Wright’s Children’s Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial services was held on Thursday, Jan. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Richmond, with visitation starting at 10 a.m., followed by services at 11. Inurnment will be at a later date.
