Daniel Leroy “Boone” Allred, 74, of Richmond died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Daniel was born on Oct. 31, 1946, in Richmond, the son of Walter W. “Putt” and Cleta Mae (Richardson) Allred. He was united in marriage to Martha Hall of Richmond on June 17, 1974. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 1998.

Survivors include: one son, Daniel (Marcie) Allred of Kingsville; four daughters, Danielle (Thomas) Wilson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Melissa (Wayne) Blackburn of Suphar, Oklahoma, Bobbie Railey of Richmond and Sandy (Rodney Dunwoodie) Peterson of Richmond; a sister, Mary J. (Arnold) Ryun of Deep Water; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepdaughter, Samanatha Gates; granddaughter, Kalynn Dowdle; and brother, Charles Edward “Eddie” Allred.

Daniel was reared and educated in Ray County. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Oriskany.

Daniel liked bowling, crafts and building wood projects. He enjoyed collecting tools, loved watching Westerns, listening to country music and watching the Chiefs play football. His friends and family will miss his witty personality and humorous comments.

Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, in Woodland Cemetery, Richmond.

Visitation was held from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
