Beverly Jean Burk, 81, of Hardin passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at her home. Beverly was born Aug. 9, 1944, in Braymer, the daughter of Benjamin “Bennie” Alfred and Cora Mae (McElwee) Lawson. She was united in marriage to Raymond C. Burk of Richmond on July 10, 1962. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her son, Paul (Carla) Burk of Hardin; daughter, Janie Loyd of Hardin; and two grandchildren, Ethan Burk and Heather (Chris) Toler. She also is survived by six great-grandchildren, Damien Loyd (Rachel Creeden), Dylan Taber, Jacob (Tabitha) Taber, Zavier Toler, Zaelyn Toler and Zyrika Toler; and three great-great-grandchildren, Alexander Loyd, Braxton Creeden and Carter Taber.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Travis Loyd; great-granddaughter, Hailey Loyd; brother, Jerry Lawson; and sister, Pearl Allred.

Beverly grew up in Hardin and graduated with the class of 1962.

While she was a proud housewife and homemaker, always putting her family first, she also worked hard outside the home, spending 20 years at Price Candy in Richmond and another seven years at Carrollton Specialties for Hallmark.

Beverly was the heart of her family, the one who kept everyone close and made sure they always had a place to gather. She loved having the house full – whether it was for a holiday, a Sunday meal or just a visit – believing that, as long as her family was together, everything was right in the world.

She had many hobbies, but her favorites were crocheting; embroidering; tending to flowers, with Raymond following her instructions on where each one should go; baking; and reading. But more than anything, Beverly’s greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family. She was happiest when the house was full, the laughter was loud and everyone she loved was under one roof.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Beverly Burk Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 15, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and services to follow at 11. Burial will be in Black Oaks Cemetery, Braymer.
