Barbara O’Dell

Barbara Annette Kincaid O’Dell, 49, of Richmond passed away on Jan. 26, 2023, at North Kansas City Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Barb was born June 6, 1973, in Excelsior Springs, the daughter of James D. Kincaid and Della Kincaid.

She left behind her best friend in the world, Sarah Bowen, who survives in the home. Additional survivors include her son, Jacob O’Dell; and grandson, Jaxtyn O’Dell.

She was the beloved sister to four brothers, James (Tabitha) Kincaid, Michael (Gloria) Kincaid, John Kincaid and Delbert (Katrina) Kincaid; and three sisters, Cindy (Rod) Hyatt, Liz (Eddie) Frazier and Lois (Troy) White. Barb was blessed with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Barb’s quick wit, infectious laugh and sense of humor will be remembered by all the people whose lives and hearts she touched, both personally and professionally. Barb had a love for animals. Her man’s best friends, Max, Kiko, Priscilla, Kismish and Diablo, miss her terribly and don’t understand why their mom isn’t home. Her favorite hobbies were reading, cooking and crafting.

Barb had been employed since July 2002 as environmental director at Shirkey Nursing and Rehab. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
