Balma Louise (Glenn) Wollard, 90 years old, of Norborne, MO, formerly of Hardin, MO, died on Sept. 21, 2022, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Balma was born on Nov. 28, 1931, in Guthrie, OK, to William Ferman and Donnie (Simpson) Glenn.

After graduating from Central High School in 1948, she moved to Kansas City, where she lived and worked with girlfriends for seven years. After a long courtship of eight years, she married Tommy M Wollard of Hardin on May 20, 1955, in the Rockingham Church. She and Tommy remained in the city for one year and then decided to move back to the country life, where they were from. Balma was a very devoted farm wife and mother to her children. She contributed her part on the farm in many ways, but a few to mention were raising a large garden, canning, mowing the lawn, and taking care of the family, along with the home.

She remained on that farm until 2004, where she then moved to her parent’s home, located north of Norborne, until she moved to Shirkey Nursing Home in 2021.

Balma was baptized on Nov. 10, 1946. She was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ in Norborne, before transferring to the Braymer Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Russellville Extension Club from 1957 until 2021.

Balma was known by family and friends as a sweet, kind, and beautiful lady. She loved to visit. Her faith in God was very important to her and helped her stay strong through tough times in her life with health issues and saying goodbye to loved ones.

Balma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Maxine Layman.

Surviving Balma are her son, Glenn Wollard, and her daughter, Gina (Steve) Repphun.

Services for Balma will be held on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Hardin.

Memorial donations, in her honor, can be made to either the Braymer Church of Christ or the New Hope Cemetery to be left or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home.

Balma will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
