Annette Graves, 84, formerly of Orrick, passed away on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her daughter and grandson.

Annette was born on May 20, 1939, in Aberdeen, Miss., to Walter Taylor and Myrtle (Little) Taylor.

On Aug. 29, 1958, in Benton Harbor, Mich., she was married to Shelby Graves; and to this marriage, one daughter was born.

In 1968, Annette moved to Orrick and made Orrick her home for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Orrick Christian Church.

Annette was well-known in the Orrick community as a child care provider. Annette loved country music, and her favorite sports teams were the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals and the Michigan Wolverines. Annette loved gardening and tending to her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Myrtle Taylor; brother, William Taylor; and sisters, Lucille Sayre, Marite Welch, Margarite Vincent and Nancy Reese.

Annette is survived by her daughter, Janet Millsap; and her grandson, Michael Millsap of Kansas City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested in honor of Annette to be given to Harbor Hospice; 4911 S. Arrowhead Drive, Suite 101; Independence, MO 64055.

Visitation and viewing were held 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Funeral followed at 11, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Art Endsley officiating.

Burial followed at Southpoint Cemetery near Orrick.
