Alice Marian Borne Hoeppner was born Aug. 3, 1931, in Lexington, to Leonard and Clara Borne.

Heaven gained an angel on March 26, 2020.

She married Benjamin Herman Hoeppner on Aug. 5, 1950.

Alice worked at the Lafayette County Courthouse as a deputy county clerk her entire career. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was devoted to her faith. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Lexington.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Tony) Ellis of Richmond; son, Ralph A. “Tony” (Suzanne) Hoeppner of Spring Hill, Kansas; grandchildren, Chris (Emily) Ellis of Richmond, Bret Ellis of Richmond, Devon (Steven) Cromley of Columbia, Shawn Hoeppner of Versailles, Kyle (Laura) Hoeppner of New Bloomfield, Nathan Hoeppner of Overland Park, Kansas, and Brian Hoeppner of Kansas City; 11 great-grandchildren, Callie, Cayne and Carleigh Ellis, Gavin, Carsyn and Morgan Cromley, Kinley Ellis, Mattie, Tanner, Cannon Hoeppner and Shelby Hoeppner; and sister, Virginia Jameson of Perry, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Herman Hoeppner; sister, Evelyn Carellil and her son, Steven Hoeppner.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to either the Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary or Ray County Home Health. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

A visitation followed by a memorial Mass will be held at a later date at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington. Inurnment will follow services in Lexington Memory Gardens.
