Albert Everett Hewitt, 85, of Henrietta, died Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Lafayette Regional Hospital, Lexington.

Albert was born on Feb. 11, 1935, in Henrietta, the son of Albert Milton and Thelma Geneva (King) Hewitt. He was united in marriage to Kay Eileen Parrish of Fort Madison, Iowa, on Nov. 22, 1953. She survives of the home.

Albert also leaves behind two sons, Wesley (Donna) Hewitt of Richmond and Chris (Cindy) Hewitt of Richmond; a daughter, Brenda Eileen Hambrick of Excelsior Springs; half-sister, Shirley (Melvin) Harmon of Fleming; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Darren Eugene Hewitt; brother, June Hewitt; and half-brother, James Gardner.

Albert was reared and educated in the area of his birth and graduated from Henrietta High School. Albert worked for 32 years for the Santa Fe Railroad and retired as a track supervisor; 25 of those years were spent working alongside his son, Wesley. In his younger years, before working for the railroad, he worked at Ford Motor Co., worked for his dad at Hewitt Hatchery and was a salesman for Mormon Feed. Albert was a gunsmith and loved working on guns. He also liked to fish.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson Foundation. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St., Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation occurred from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond.
