Disc golf finds new course indoors at Eagleton Center
An activity typically played across wide-open spaces could soon move indoors in Ray County, giving area seniors a new way to get moving and connect with others.
Ray County commissioners recently approved a motion supporting resident Charlie Baker’s efforts to bring the activity to the Eagleton Center, where he plans to offer it on Friday afternoons.
Baker explained the idea is to use the center during a time when the space is otherwise available while creating another activity for seniors. He noted the activity could become another way for people to build community at the center.
“I won’t do it very long if it’s just not working, but we’ll advertise, see if we can get a crowd,” said Baker.
The indoor version would keep throws much shorter than a traditional disc golf game. Baker said participants would throw from a maximum distance of about 30 feet. He plans to begin with one basket, with additional baskets available if the activity grows.
