RICHMOND – J.D. Contracting, Brookfield, completed repairs on the Ray County Road and Bridge Building on Highway 13, north of Richmond. Repairs to the Quonset hut-style building cost $18,815, Ray County Presiding Commissioner Bob King said. “It was an old bunker building that was starting to leak,” King said. Together with Commissioners Jerry Bishop and Allen Dale, King chose the contractor. King said the county road employees do a lot. “Road and Bridge (employees) do not get enough kudos,” he said, considering all the employees do. People always want work done on their roads, and the employees deal with such needs, but went above and beyond in 2019 when flooding required replacing rock washed away from roads, followed by a second round of flooding that caused the employees to go back and relay rock on some of the same roads. “It was the best they could have done,” King said, “and they’ve come back this year and pretty much made them perfect again.” There will always be potholes or…
