In the 1,000-point club
ORRICK – When Dylan Comstock made a two-point shot with 6 minutes, 7 seconds left in Orrick’s Class 1 District 13 meeting Tuesday with visiting Norborne, the crowd erupted.
Comstock’s bucket prompted the reaction not because it was a gamechanger. Orrick was leading 58-35 when he scored and would go on to win 64-41. Rather, it marked a milestone.
It was Comstock’s 1,000th career point.
The crowd reaction “was pretty cool,” Comstock said.
“I didn’t know how many (points) away I was,” he said. “If I started to focus on it, that’s when I started playing bad. … (I) just was worried about winning and that stuff … would take care of … (itself). So whenever they went crazy, I kind of figured out, ‘Hey, I did it.’”
Comstock become the second Bearcat this season to join the 1,000-point club. Fellow senior Ethan Wilson reached the milestone Jan. 18 during Orrick’s 58-48 home loss to Lexington.
