Work begins on Hwy 10 Bridge

Residents commuting to and from Excelsior Springs have noticed the detour as the Missouri Hwy 10 Bridge is being worked on. Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Kansas City District Area Engineer Benjamin Mc-Cabe confirmed that the bridge work is “on schedule” and the anticipated contract completion is the end of November. “The new bridge girders were set this week, and the contractor has started forming the new bridge deck. “The existing bridge was constructed in 1962 and has reached the end of its service life,” said the MoDOT engineer. “Maintaining the existing bridge outweighed the cost of replacing it.” McCabe said there will be future work through 2026 with the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. • 2024 – Resurfacing and shoulders of Hwy 13 from Richmond north to the Caldwell County line.
