RICHMOND – The Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes Wisper Internet to the community. During a ribbon cutting July 25, General Manager Damian Lemens and Marketing Coordinator Mandi Tryon shared information about the internet provider. Wisper Internet is a fixed wireless broadband internet provider, feeding fiber to tall structures in the area and then using microwaves to reach residences and businesses. This service can provide up to 100 Mbps speeds with unlimited data, Wisper information states. “Wisper provides service to rural communities where other providers don’t,” WisperISP.com. stated. Launched in 2003 with a staff of 80, the company celebrates 18 years in business with more than 220 employees. “I’ve been in this business for 10 years, joining Wisper in January and found it to be a good fit,” Lemens said. “Wisper was a recipient of a large amount of the federal Connect America Fund, which we’ve used in this area to help improve connectivity.
