RICHMOND – Clay County investigator Scott Childers, 41, challenges Ray County Sheriff Garry Bush, 64, for the Ray County sheriff’s seat. Both men had the opportunity to discuss their backgrounds, and in 30 words or less, to answer issue-related questions. BACKGROUND Childers, a Republican, stated he has served as a deputy for nine years, and as an investigator for five of those years. He led teams of investigators in the field on major crimes, and worked with multiple agencies. “There is no reason we cannot act like a first-class county,” Childers stated. “I am determined to bring Ray County to the forefront of law enforcement by using technology and community policing.” Bush, a Democrat, has served as sheriff since 2012.
