LIBERTY – Missouri, Kansas City, Ray and Clay counties have different dates for lifting stay-home and businessclosing orders.
Ordering social distancing for public safety has brought political attacks on Gov. Mike Parson from his own party. Last week, at least 500 people – many angry and carrying signs that jeered Parson – protested under his office window at the Capitol in favor of reopening Missouri. They rejected the coronavirus as a threat great enough to justify closing businesses. Resurrecting Tea Party themes, some protestors carried “Don’t Tread on Me” flags and lambasted Parson for creating a nanny state. Parson needs the entire party to support him in November, when ‘ he is expected to face off against the top Democratic challenger, Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway.
