Terry Lee Alpers, 68, of Richmond died Thursday, Jan. 19, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. Terry was born on July 14, 1954, in Kansas City, the son of Hershel and Marcella (Halterman) Alpers. He was united in marriage to Debbie Kay Misel of Richmond on Dec. 17, 1983. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include: two sons, Caleb (Alyssa) Alpers and Brian Alpers-Stevens, both of Kansas City; two daughters, Hannah (Drayton) Masoner of Richmond and Kelly Alpers- Stevens of Kansas City; three grandchildren, Charlotte Masoner, Arthur Alpers and Joey Stevens; a stepgrandson, Liam; a brother, Jimmy Crawford of Liberty; and three sisters, Cindy Clubb of Liberty, Debbie Dokes of Texas and Christie Erkenbeck of Independence.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Terry was reared and educated in Hardin and graduated with the Hardin-Central class of 1972. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
After returning to the area of his birth, he worked in construction in the Kansas City area and was a proud member of the Construction Laborers Union Local 264. He worked many years for Rand & Sons Construction in Kansas City until he retired.
Terry loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and golfing. He was a big MU and Chiefs fan.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial was in Richmond Memory Gardens.
