• SCHOOL CLOSED OCT. 9 • COVID CASES INCREASE • DISTRICT AVOIDS RISK RICHMOND – In-school classes will not resume at Richmond High School until after Thanksgiving, district leaders have decided. Because of an outbreak of the coronavirus, the district had suspended in-school learning until at least Nov. 2. With cases of the virus continuing to mount across Ray County, the district decided to continue virtual learning until at least Nov. 30. “We’re going to go virtual, for the high school only, until after Thanksgiving,” Superintendent Greg Darling said. Various reasons, including an 84% increase in COVID-19 cases this month versus last, went into the district’s decision. “Ray County is dramatically up,” Darling said shortly after the announcement Oct. 22. “We had a large number of kids being quarantined.” The district is keeping tabs on students, he said. “We have a number of students that are testing for COVID right now,” Darling said. “If the county numbers go down, and…
