RICHMOND – Future snow days could become online education days for Richmond students, based on students having access to Chromebook computers and the internet, Superintendent Greg Darling said. “We are working toward that,” he said. To start the 2020-2021 school year, the district provided Chromebooks to students when COVID-19 made in-person attendance too risky. LACK OF INTERNET Chromebooks help with distance learning, but some students face an additional obstacle, Darling said “We have some people that do not have internet,” he said. “That makes it kind of tough.” Darling has experienced the issue personally. “The people in town, they can get it,” he said. “I’m a half-mile outside of town and it was impossible for me to get internet.
