Southview Pool in Richmond has received some upgrades. Cracks were filled and caulking was done, said Haley Williams, city recreation director. In addition, the pool was media blasted, which involved removing the old paint and applying a fresh coat of Tnemec paint. New lane ropes also were installed, Williams said. “Overall, it looks really good,” she said. The pool slide underwent renovations, too. “We re-gel-coated it,” Williams said. “There were some cracks that got repaired. The seams got sealed together.” The upgrades were needed to give visitors the quality pool they deserve, according to Williams. “The Southview Pool is 42 years old this year,” she said. “The last time there were some serious repairs was in the early 2000s. Our pool had concrete repairs, cracks and cosmetic needs.” For Williams, the renovations were a goal during her 14-year tenure with the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department.
