Some residents vote early, avoid lines

RICHMOND – The election ended days early for those Ray Countians who cast ballots before the traditional Election Day on Tuesday. Jennifer Siebert joined the throng of early voters. She had never before voted early. “I have to work all day Tuesday,” Siebert said last week, “and I just wanted to make sure I got it done.” In addition to making sure she had no work issues, Siebert said she worried long lines on Election Day might slow the voting process. Siebert experienced no waiting time Oct. 30. Voting remained steady throughout the day, Clerk’s Office staff member Janis Kincaid said. Kassidy Findley said she attends Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, where she lives during the week. While at her regular voting location on Friday – a day she does not have to attend classes – Findley said she wanted to cast her ballot where she has a permanent residence. Early voting continued Saturday, with County Clerk Glenda Powell keeping the office open to accommodate voters…
