RICHMOND – The Wollard Boulevard and standpipe projects are complete, but bouts of rain have slowed other work, City Administrator Tonya Willim said. The city in November approved a bid of $188,597 to Blue Nile for the Wollard Boulevard drainage project. The drainage project replaces old lines with 48- and 54-inch lines to send runoff water to a retention basin beyond Wollard Boulevard. The area would flood several times a year near Stella’s Nightclub, other businesses and residences. The work is designed to end that problem. • The water tower standpipe has been painted. “It looks great. I hope everybody sees the new logo on the standpipe,” Willim said. “That’s really awesome.” The city contracted with SUEZ Water Asset Management to handle three water wells and both water towers. The utility company will provide all upfront renovations and receive $101,000 a year over four years. After four years, payments will drop to $30,496 a year. The Hill Street tank had to be emptied,…
