Sheriff’s department adopts families

Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers has declared the recent Shop with the Sheriff event a success. Ray County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) hosts the annual event. “It went extremely well,” said Childers. “We had a total of 23 kids this year.” Ray County Lieutenant Amy Sisson explained each child received around $150 to spend. Overall, the RCSD spent around $3,500, according to Sisson. “My favorite part was watching the kids getting excited while picking out their gifts with the deputies,” said Sisson. “Who doesn’t love watching kids pick out gifts?” asked the sheriff, noting the recent event had the biggest supporting crowd yet. “I want to thank those who have donated funds for this event, Richmond Walmart for hosting and assisting us with the grant process, deputies and Phillip Powers and his family,” said Childers.
