JEFFERSON CITY – Saturday marks the opening day for squirrel hunting/ trapping and black bass fishing seasons in Missouri.

The season for fox squirrels and eastern gray squirrels runs until Feb. 15, 2021. The Department of Conservation has set a 10-squirrel daily limit and a 20-squirrel possession limit.

Black bass season concludes Feb. 28. Bass harvested from “most streams south of the Missouri River” may be kept, the MDC stated. Catch and release is applicable to black bass “legally throughout the year anywhere in Missouri,” it stated.

“Legal-sized bass may be kept all year long from impoundments statewide,” the MDC stated.
