Richmond residents will get treated to a fireworks display after all, thanks to the combined effort of area businesses and organizations led by Richmond Rotary.

Because of Covid-19, the fundraising events that usually raise money for the fireworks display during the Chamber's American Celebration were cancelled.

This is when the Richmond Rotary Club stepped in.

The Rotarians couldn’t fund the entire $10,000 it takes to have fireworks. So Rotary Club members placed a few phone calls to folks in the community who are always eager to help. The club's last minute rally found the funds so we can proudly exclaim, "Richmond will have fireworks!" explained Rotary President Becky Treccariche.

The fireworks display is scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2020 at dusk at Southview Park which was the original fireworks date and location.

Unlike previous years, this will be a fireworks only event. Organizers of the event encourage everyone to follow CDC health and safety guidelines while enjoying the show.

Trecariche wants to share a special thank you to the following businesses and individuals who financially contributed to the fireworks display:

  • Richmond Rotary Club  $2,000
  • City of Richmond  $2,000
  • Ray County Land Title  $1,000
  • Reece & Nichols Williams & Associates $500
  • Community Realty  $500
  • Midwest Mo Contractors  $500
  • Mo. Farm and Home Insurance  $500

  • State Bank  $250
  • Complete Auto Service Center  $500
  • Troy Rust/Equitable Advisors  $250
  • Bart & Tonya Willim/Thurman Funeral Home  $250

Be sure to share your thanks when visiting any of the businesses above. The Rotary Club and the Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce hope you enjoy the fireworks on June 26.
