Richmond schools seek input for COVID-19 in 2020-2021

RICHMOND – Community and education leaders are providing input to help the Richmond School District set the course to address the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, incoming Superintendent Greg Darling said. They are focused on four areas, he said: infrastructure, health and safety, academic standards and data, and human resources. “I want to get people involved,” he said. “COVID-19 can be dangerous and I don’t want to put anybody in harm’s way – no students and no adults. We want to do it right.” Questions are as basic as whether families have internet access and as complex as what kind of scheduling obstacles would have to be overcome to allow for “split days.” Split days for students may become necessary to allow for social distancing space in the event COVID-19 remains a threat entering the new school year, Darling said. “We want to get parents’ input, so that if we have to make decisions in the fall – if we need split scheduling or if we have to do things to help students to get…
