Pugh advocates sheltered workshops

To better serve and advocate for individuals with disabilities in the county and the state of Missouri, Heather Pugh was sworn into the Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council (MODDC) by Ray County Judge Lori Baskins last week. “The MODDC mission is ‘to assist individuals, families and the community to include all people with developmental disabilities in every aspect of life,’ focusing on ensuring quality care for all those with intellectual and developmental disabilities; and supporting their equitable inclusion in schools, workplaces and communities,” said Baskins. Pugh explained how this was an honor to her. “To be able to represent sheltered employment across the state of Missouri on the council and to be a voice and an advocate – to know that inclusion is prominent – is an honor,” said Pugh.
