Presiding commissioners discuss budgets
Numbing weather kept pushing back county budget assessments in the recent past. Ray County Commissioner
Billy Gaines confirmed all budgets are being presented to the commissioners office this week. After budgets are approved, they will be sent to Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick’s office.
Some may be wondering if the budgets are changed this year, but on Monday, Gaines said they haven’t received all of them just yet.
“At this time we don’t know until we receive all budgets, I would expect some to be adjusted to fit the needs of the office and revenue,” said Gaines. “All elected officials’ offices have to submit budgets and all appointed boards by the commissioners turn in budgets.”
As county commissioners, they are to oversee the policies of the organization and create strategies to bring the county’s needs and goals forward.
“We will take all budget requests and put them in first to see if we have enough revenue to cover them. If not, we look at cuts,” said Gaines. “The…
