Plea agreement reached for Orrick man
An Orrick man originally facing 11 felony charges involving child sexual abuse has entered a guilty plea to just two felony charges after reaching a plea agreement.
Cody L. Ryan, 31, was originally charged with six counts of first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy, four counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a child under 14 and one count of first-degree sexual misconduct involving a child under 15. Instead, he recently entered guilty pleas to two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy.
Ryan appeared in Ray County Circuit Court before Eighth Judicial Circuit Judge Kevin L. Walden, where the court reviewed and accepted the plea agreement. Ryan was advised of his rights, including the right to a jury trial, to confront witnesses and to remain silent. Walden found the plea was entered voluntarily and found Ryan guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
