‘One last chance’ extended … again

After six months of problems with the Ray County Sheriff’s Department’s (RCSD) handling of warrant entries, the Ray County 911 Board issued yet another “one last chance,” the third one, to be exact. In spite of promises each month from Sheriff Scott Childers and 911 dispatch, the departments continue to have issues getting the job done correctly. In July, the 911 Board agreed they would accept no more than six issues in order to stay partnered with RCSD. During a recent meeting of the board, an update on RCSD’s ongoing problem with warrant entries was given, revealing five errors – meaning the department was granted another month to improve. The board agreed, however, that there would only be an allowance of one error in the sheriff’s September report to the board. There was one vote against extending another chance, from 911 board member Perry Vandiver.
