New officer brings military experience to Richmond PD
Kansas City native Matt Evans has been appointed the newest police officer for the city by Richmond City Council. As a military veteran, Evans brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role.
“I joined the Navy right after college and served for about 10 years,” he said. “I was a police officer in Alabama, and then I returned to the military, this time with the Army as an infantry paratrooper.”
Evans’ path to becoming a police officer in Richmond has been winding, but he’s excited to serve the community.
“Things in my life changed, and I needed to get back home,” Evans explained. “I had great communication with Chief (Scott) Bagley, and I knew a little about the city because my dad used to bring me out to the Mushroom Festival growing up. I knew this was where I wanted to be -- a nice, small community where the police are really involved with the people.”
Richmond Mayor Mike Wright expressed enthusiasm about Evans joining the police force.
“We’re glad to have you,” said…
