National group connects pets, prevention

National Celebrate Shelter Pets Day passed Dec. 4, but one organization continues to amplify its message about the connection between adopted animals and mental health. The Jason Foundation continues to focus its suicide prevention efforts on youth and young adults while also highlighting the impact animals can have on emotional well-being. “National Celebrate Shelter Pets is a day dedicated to honoring animals waiting in shelters for loving families,” explained Knight. “The day brings warmth and hope, creating a moment for people to pause and see how special these friends can be.” Knight noted the impact of shelter adoption often reaches far beyond companionship.
