Museum carries on with touch-ups during COVID-19
RICHMOND – For the Ray County Museum, operations during the coronavirus pandemic have differed little from operations before the pandemic.
Before COVID-19 began spreading in March, the museum had been closed for a few months to reorganize exhibit displays and clean, Administrator Cathy Gottsch said during a May 2 interview for “Ray County Voices,” this newspaper’s monthly podcast series. Under COVID-19, “what we’ve been doing is kind of a continuation of what we were doing, except now, there’s not very many people … (coming) up here,” Gottsch said.
Specifically, there is one person going to the museum on the hill at 901 W. Royle St. in Richmond to volunteer, Gottsch said. In keeping with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, “we keep our distance,” she said.
In addition, Gottsch said, the museum continues developing raycountymuseum.org, its new website. Launched earlier this year, the site was funded through a Freedom Frontier National Heritage Area grant, she said.
