The University of Missouri (MU) Extension Office chose Emily Bergsieker, field specialist in 4-H Youth Development, as their “Extension Spotlight.” Bergsieker has worked with our county youth and adult volunteers as an MU Extension employee for four years. Emily is proud to continue the long-standing tradition of 4-H in her counties while also looking for new ways to expand learning opportunities for youth to gain the benefits of 4-H. These opportunities include community clubs, short special interest events, regional and state contests, afterschool education, and in-school enrichment, including an embryology program about egg and chicken development. As a 4-H youth development specialist, Bergsieker has engaged with youth from a variety of backgrounds to ensure they become valued, contributing members of their communities.
