Although a new jail is on his mind, Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers has made necessary improvements to the current facility a priority. “We are dealing with black mold and it is not easy to get rid of,” said Childers. Black bold growth occurs when there is moisture from water damage, water leaks, condensation, water infiltration or flooding. Constant moisture is required for its growth, according to www.cdc.gov. “While we were digging for the mental health village, TCB Wellness, there were a lot of puddles of water not going anywhere,” he said. TCB Wellness consists of three 975-square-foot boxes dedicated to counseling, one outdoor bathroom with plumbing, and a debriefing building. A local person told the sheriff the Missouri River used to be wide and beyond Henrietta, and clay from the riverbed remains under and around Henrietta.
